| spa |
| dc.description.abstractenglish | Mariana Zapata Palacio’s “Alas & Raíces” project offers an educational experience that combines graphic design, scientific illustration, and digital interaction to bring the biodiversity of the ITM’s La Salle Museum of Natural Sciences closer to young audiences. It stems from the recognition of a gap between the museum’s scientific knowledge and its social acceptance, positioning design as a mediator between art, science, and education. The proposal is developed through a research-creation methodology, combining observation within the museum, benchmarking of references, and visual experimentation, which allows for the construction of a unique graphic language: illustrations of birds that balance morphological fidelity with an expressive and sensitive aesthetic. The result is a system of complementary products. The thesis conceptually structures the research and supports the proposal as a cultural mediation strategy. The zine serves as an introductory piece that invites exploration from an emotional perspective and connects to other formats via a QR code. The website expands the experience with detailed information on the species, a process log, and downloadable resources, allowing for intuitive and accessible navigation for non-specialist audiences. Taken as a whole, the project creates an expanded experience that brings the museum into everyday life, fostering curiosity, observation, and a closer connection with biodiversity—going beyond the mere technical transmission of knowledge. | spa |
