dc.descriptionAfter revising the first social interpretations of a work of art, we perform a historic-graphical tour through art social history, presenting its main authors and work. Afterwards, we compare the visions shared with social history (especially British Marxism) in order to prove the way social history and art social history –although having different roots– had the tendency to be linked in the last decades thanks to the contribution of cultural history and visual studies in that order. Finally, as an example, we revised a reading based on the work The Old Musician of Édouard Manet from the socio-historical perspective of art in order to understand the particularities of his method.en-US
dc.descriptionTras revisar los primeros intentos de una interpretación social de la obra de arte, nos detenemos en un recorrido historiográfico por la historia social del arte, presentando sus principales autores y sus aportes. Luego, comparamos las visiones que comparten con la historia social (particularmente la marxista británica), para demostrar cómo la historia social y la historia social del arte, si bien tienen raíces muy distintas, tendieron a vincularse en las últimas décadas gracias a los aportes de la historia cultural primero y los estudios visuales después. Finalmente, revisamos, a modo de ejemplo, una lectura hecha de la obra El viejo músico, de Édouard Manet, desde la perspectiva de la historia social del arte, a fin de comprender las particularidades de su método.es-ES
